Arcilia Acosta
Arcilia Acosta of Dallas was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Board of Regents of the ×ÔοÊÓÆµ on April 13, 2021. She currently serves as chair of the Facilities Committee and is the immediate past chair of the Audit Committee. Her term expires on Jan. 31, 2027.
Acosta has served as chief executive officer of CARCON Industries and Construction, a full-service construction firm, since 2000. Acosta is the founder and chief executive officer of Southwestern Testing Laboratories Engineers, a position she has held since 2003. She is a celebrated 30-year business veteran, entrepreneur, nationally recognized speaker, philanthropist and mother.
Acosta has held board-level positions with some of Texas’s most successful corporations. Acosta currently serves on the board of directors of Vistra Corporation, Magnolia Oil & Gas, and Veritex Holdings, Inc. Previously, she served on the board of TPG Pace Energy Holdings Corp., and for more than 10 years, on the board of Energy Future Holdings Corporation. From 2013 until it was acquired in 2019, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of Legacy Texas Financial Group, N.A., a bank holding company. From July 2018 through February 2020, Acosta served as a director of ONE Gas Incorporated, a publicly traded natural gas distribution company and one of the largest natural gas utilities in the U.S.
In November 2022, Gov. Abbott appointed Acosta as one of three co-chairs of the 2023 Texas Inaugural Committee.
In 2021, Acosta was honored with the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award. In March 2020, Gov. Abbott appointed Acosta to the Strike Force to Open Texas – one of 40 members from across the state appointed to the special advisory council.
In March 2016, Gov. Abbott appointed Acosta to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for a three-year term, which is the state’s authority on public higher education.
Acosta is a former director of the Texas Tech Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors. In addition, Acosta has served as commencement speaker for Texas Tech University (×ÔοÊÓÆµ) and three other Texas universities.
She graduated from ×ÔοÊÓÆµ in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the College of Arts & Sciences. She also earned a Bank Board Director Certification from Southern Methodist University Southwest School of Banking and is a graduate of the Harvard University Business School Corporate Governance Program.
